Working for change is essential and exhausting.
Obstruction, apathy, infighting… What about making change? How do you focus on transformative justice, and keep going when the group hit a block, when the opposition digs in, when the cause feels hopeless and you haven’t got a prayer?
Andy Turner is involved in two ongoing campaigns in Hackney and Deptford. He will talk about social cleansing, the joy of the skirmish, finding kinship, obliquity, and making waves. He is a lecturer in social and community work at Goldsmiths, and co-director of the Faiths & Civil Society Unit.
